Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Set up and stock food stations before each shift
- Prepare ingredients including chopping, slicing, portioning, marinating, and seasoning
- Ensure all meals are prepared accurately and served promptly
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs
- Keep workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas clean and organized
- Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries
- Work collaboratively with chefs, line cooks, prep cooks, servers, and management during busy meal periods
- Support banquet, catering, and special event food preparation as needed
Qualifications
- Previous line cook, prep cook, or restaurant kitchen experience preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
- Strong knife skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable with excellent attendance
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food Handler Certification is a plus (or ability to obtain if required)
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequently bend, reach, twist, and lift
- Work safely around hot surfaces, grills, ovens, fryers, and kitchen equipment
- Perform repetitive food preparation tasks throughout the shift
